Most computer
memory
chips upgrade businesses carry both generic and specific
RAM.
Generic RAM can usually work on a variety of operating
systems. MACs and PCs require different memory so there
will most likely be generic MAC
memory
and generic PC
memory.
The companies also carry specific memory designed for
each computer make and model.
While
generic memory is always cheaper, some find that it
does not work as well as specific memory. Every computer
system has small timing differences as well as incompatibilities
between them. Specific memory is tested in each system
to ensure compatibility so it tends to run more smoothly.
