The Magnuson-Moss Act was enacted by Congress in 1975.
This act specified that the consumer has a right of
free choice in using whatever products they wish to
upgrade other products. It made it illegal to place
sales restrictions limiting upgrades to a specific brand
to satisfy warranty terms. .
This
Federal law applies to all products, including computer
systems. So feel free to add any brand of memory chips
upgrades to your computer and rest assured that your
original system warranty will remain unaffected. You
can develop the best system possible without worrying
about any repercussions.
